SWEET LADIES
Sweet Ladies is a provocative and entertaining new work devised through improvisation by actresses Diana Stewart-Rossiné and Georgina Ridealgh, with Director Kit Leonard. It was premiered in both English and French in May 2008 at the Bath Fringe Festival, UK and in Nottingham. Original music by Charles Allen-Wall.
In Sweet Ladies two modern-day women meet in a care institution to work out the past and find a cure for the present; it is so hard for them to communicate that they use the words of William Shakespeare instead - though no prior knowledge of Shakespeare is required to enjoy the play. By turns comic and bittersweet, Amanda and her daughter Ophelia explore the edges of sanity, the depths of love and how to smuggle alcohol in.
Sweet Ladies is now showing at the Théâtre de l'Epouvantail (A La Folie Théâtre), 6 rue de la Folie Méricourt, 75011 (metro 9 St-Ambroise) until November 2nd.
